The Why
The world exists in fragments. In competition. Science versus faith. Ecology versus economy. Me versus you.
After Fragmentation is an exploration of the spaces between. It is a collection of writing and research focused on ecology, restoration, and the human search for connection within altered landscapes.
Here, I explore what it means to coexist with nature, with one another, and with the systems we collectively shape. At its center is a question: where do we go from here, when both ecosystems and societies have become increasingly fragmented? How do we align our motivations, build shared responsibility, and imagine ecological futures on a planet we all call home?
My work centers on habitat fragmentation, urban ecology, environmental ethics, and the emotional and cultural dimensions of conservation in an era of climate change. I am especially interested in why people care for the natural world, and how ecological responsibility can be communicated across different experiences, values, and ways of life.
Through essays, research, and creative nature writing, After Fragmentation explores questions of restoration, belonging, coexistence, and the changing relationships between humans and the environments they inhabit.
