The Human Condition
The Human Condition is a collection of poems and prose centered around the ordinary experiences that define us most deeply. Through reflections on love, grief, intimacy, loneliness, hope, and healing, the collection examines the emotional realities that connect all people despite differences in their lives. Rooted in small moments, these pieces explore how human beings learn to survive, to yearn, to mourn, and to keep loving anyway.
The Spider
In my little corner of the world
I stare at the ceiling
That I share with a spider
That has made my home his
And try not to panic
At the fact that I must share
With such a small,
insignificant creature.
But maybe
If I took a step out of
My little corner of the world
I would finally find that
I am just as small,
Just as insignificant.
Smaller.
The spider wards off the bugs
That come to prey
On my blood
In the nighttime
And to repay him
I destroy his home
And all its inhabitants.
The Central Theme
What is life but a
Collection of small moments
We are made up of.
If One Day
And if one day,
We end up
Curled together
In an armchair,
Reading the same book,
I’ll know
We have made it.
Unafraid
Oh, the version of you
That loved, so unafraid,
Was the
Most beautiful thing
I have ever known.
Symbiosis
You live in my bones
And I live in your shadow.
To stay curled in your shadow.
