Nature & Grief
The Nature & Grief Collection is a series of poems and prose exploring the lessons the natural world offers about grief, love, loss, and renewal. Through changing landscapes, seasons, and ecosystems, the collection reflects on what it means to endure absence while remaining connected to the world around us.
I.
we were where
the sky meets the sea.
infinite
yet unattainable.
II.
the flowers died
on monday.
but we were over
last thursday
and they say
that flowers
represent
the love in amounts
that you have to give
well they were
still alive
when you left
so stay.
III.
you heard the birds sing
about love
because of me
I heard the birds sing
about loss
because of you
Haikus
A tree must plant roots
Before it can grow leaves.
My needs then your needs.
I look at the stars
And I wonder, do they wish
On the best of us?
The Trees Do Not Run
The trees cannot run
From the winds and the storms
From the sun beating down
Or when it gets too warm
So i will stay put
Yes, i will plant roots
And weather each season
Until the world goes mute.
And maybe i’ll find
That just like the trees
I’’ll have grown stronger
Through these catastrophes.
IV.
I am a thorn
You are my rose
Where I used to guard
You have taught me to bloom.
